Our Story

From a simple belief to 11,000 lives changed

Grovehill Animal Trust was founded in November 2011 with a simple belief: that every animal deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. Based near Omagh in County Tyrone, we are a small, self-funded charity and proud members of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH).

"What started as a local rescue effort has grown into something remarkable."

What started as a local rescue effort has grown into a vital resource for animals across County Tyrone and beyond. To date, we have helped over 11,000 unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals find safety, care, and — in most cases — loving new homes.

We are not a large organisation. We don't have deep pockets or government backing. What we have is a compassionate team, an extraordinary network of volunteers, and an unshakeable belief that no animal in our community should suffer from neglect, abuse, or abandonment.

Our Commitments

What we stand for

Rescue & Rehome

Rescuing and rehoming abandoned or unwanted cats and dogs across County Tyrone and further afield.

Pound Rescue

Rescuing unclaimed dogs from the pound who would otherwise be put to sleep.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitating abused and neglected animals back to health and happiness.

Education

Educating the public on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Neutering & Spaying

Promoting neutering and spaying to prevent unwanted litters and reduce suffering.

Campaigning

Campaigning for changes in legislation to protect companion animals in Northern Ireland.

The Journey

What happens when an animal arrives

1

Veterinary health check

Every animal receives a full veterinary assessment, without exception. We need to know exactly what we're dealing with before we begin treatment.

2

Treatment

Any illness, injury, or condition is addressed immediately. We won't wait — animals in our care receive prompt, compassionate medical attention.

3

Full care package

Microchipping, defleaing, worming, neutering or spaying, and vaccinations — every animal receives the complete package before leaving our care.

4

Rehabilitation

Exercise, socialisation, and all nutritional needs are met. We give every animal the time and space they need to recover and thrive.

5

Finding the right home

A thorough matching process ensures compatibility between animal and family. We don't rush this — we want it to last a lifetime.
